Day Sixteen: New Wind

Last night my air conditioner broke and i can't go to bed, it was hard to make myself feel sleepy even my body want to get a rest quick. I create a CV until 2 am and i planned to wake up at 7, since i had an appointment with my friend to accompany him to the job fair. I also want to take a chance and know the differences of my previous two year, when i have zero work experience and was clueless with my career. The room was hot so i try to make myself sleep but it was so hard, until 3:30 i accidentally sleep on my own.

The alarm were ringing at 6:30, means i have to prepare since we will be going from home at 7:30 later on i found out that it was at 8. My head so heavy since i lack of sleep and totally hungry, i grabbed my unfinished burger which i had bought last night and eat it all. I take cold water to endure my sleepiness and as i prepare, i still had half hour of nothing so i use this time to review my CV and research on company in job fair.

I prepare myself then picked my friend up, by the time we went to the meeting point, the road was crowded yet we managed to make it on time. After we met with other friends on the meeting point, we just used one car to carry us to the destination. The job fair held in campus and it takes an hour to go there, we also need to pick one more friend and the moment we arrived on campus, we just take a breakfast first before job hunting.

After eat, some of us had not prepared with the documents, the photocopies of CV and Personal Identity card, other related document for job application. We went to the store to do this stuff and after all finish, we went straight to the booth but unfortunately we need to get a stamp from special entrance, that has a long queue on it. We waited around 30 minutes for the registration and after all finished, we can move to different booth of companies.

There were 52 companies registered inside, with 4 multinational companies and 2 top companies in the field of marketing. I start with the top company that working in tobacco industry as their main business, and talk about the job i prefer to choose for "Supervisor Area Marketing", is this job has relevancy with my current position and do i qualify to apply, talking about company culture and job exposure, turn myself to try this opportunity and i heard that the selection process in this company is tough, first selection through written based test on knowledge, logical numeric and English proficiency. Second selection through business case as a team of 5 to 7 persons, discussing and giving an opinion about the solution and third is direct interview with Human Resources. If you pass all of the qualification, they will ask your motivation and career prospect in this company. This company filter 400 applicants in one specific field (either marketing or management) to only left you alone. I expect the most in this company yet i still look for other prospective company that could give me a long term career.

The second company that i dropped my CV is the rival from the first company, a company whose works in tobacco company too, this has more applicants than my first one and i don't know based on what, popularity, salary, or easier to be employed. I waited about 10 minutes just about to register my information and drop my CV in this company. Next one, there is a unique booth, this company works in e-commerce with global branch, for those who interested to apply in this company must have at least 3.5 GPA. Everyone who play online games must be know this company and their prospect career seems promising just the problem is my score is below their expectation. After i looking around this booth, the others seem just an average company and they demand fresh graduates while i am looking for at least staff program.

The third company comes to alcoholic and soft drink distributor in my city, they open the position for product brand specialist while i asked them if my job experiences and qualification are relevant or not, they simply say doesn't matter at least you are aware with our brand and know the key quality of the position you apply for so i dropped my CV here and it comes to the last company, a Chinese owned company who own large scale construction material (cement) in Eastern Nation. The Human Resource comes from China and you can ask anything related with the company in Chinese, a good time to polish your Chinese language but beware to be well prepared since the speaker is native. He spoke my basic information and skills, it was okay from right now until he asked me to explain what am i doing in my job i got flattered to explain the specific part that requires higher vocabulary that i already forgot since it rarely use to explain him. He said okay, your skill will grow as you frequently practice and he said the position available mostly in an remote areas or island, since you will be taking charge in site. He later asked to drop my CV so we can get connected.

After the last company, i looked on my watch and i had spent 3 hours just for 4 companies, but it was fun though so i reunited with my friend and looking around, after that we took lunch in nearest shopping center. I feel so tired, i had not enough sleep and need to attend the fair drains my energy fast. In the car my friends were talking about their experience and expectation while i remain quiet. Later we come back home and i got some rest before Friday night, i have a small group meeting for dinner. So see you guys tomorrow.
