Day Nineteen: Smile is a Powerful Language

Here i am, after taking two power yoga classes, one in morning and one in night with the first time trying freeletics in public park. I felt happy today to do 90/10 principles makes my day much better so here the story. In the beginning, my morning routine change much and while i just woke up, i read the message from my dad, about a short story of individual behavior, 10% of everything happen in my life i can not change while the possible outcome is depend on 90% of how i react.

You know as usual, i woke up late with nothing job in my inbox while the time for yoga morning classes is at 9:10 while i just woke up at 9. I rushed, took my meal which i have been bought yesterday and there was a small traffic in the road and i know, honking or lit my emotion will bring nothing, just make my day worse so i just take a deep breath and keep smiling, you know if you're smiling you will produce a hormones that can makes you happy.

It was 10 minutes late for yoga class and everyone has done with meditation session, the time i went there everybody was doing a warm up twisting sequence, i know i am late but i kill my anxiousness with smiling, and throw a smile to a girl beside my mat. Now i suddenly realized the way people react when someone new beside them will felt hostile and if i don't throw any smile at all they will feel more uncomfortable, that also create a negative energy around me and makes my practice worse. Instead of that, by giving them a smile eliminate the barrier of stranger and create positive energy which makes people comfort.

Today class was about twisting with the peak pose Maksikanagasana I, or Dragonfly pose with variation of one leg from behind up to the air and do the hold for five more breaths, and second variation of one leg from behind entangled to the hand which hold the feet on the elbow so the pose look like this.
Maksikanagasana I in Variation II by Ben Istimur
This pose require lot of strength in arms with lifted chest and most importantly, the breath should be constant in order to hold the pose longer. Later on after class we were talking about teacher training, the differences and the recommendation for taking 50 hours or 200 hours straight. In this talk the important point is starting from 200 to 500 hours there would be more detail and complex in human anatomy, while in 50 hour training only focused on how to teach basic pose and start yoga class with right sequence. My training will be start on next month and hope everything going well, since my mood can strike the plan. Another important point is the talk about massage, two day retreat learning sport massage cost 750 CA, which is so expensive and i won't take it now, maybe if there is cheaper option or my yoga level has expanded, i will consider to learn massage and heal someone from sport injury. The girl who is a senior member in my gym also said that some guy need to recharge the energy after they "heal" someone, since he will absorb the negativity of injured person.

I spent time near gym to relax myself and eat my meal, with traditional herbal drink that i bought on tea stand which i surprised they sell this drink since it rare to find in different city the taste is not authentic since they missed one important ingredient to make the liquid turn red and smell strong flower scent. Anyway it only cost 1 CA so i don't mind, i recharge myself by eating my breakfast and tea for half hour. Later i come back home and do a small work, checking on my job application which already day 5 and no companies give a reply then i remembered to read free pdf, Light on Yoga by Greatest Guruji B.K.S. Iyengar (download here for free!). This e-book has basic information of yoga history, the stage of yoga which is eight limb or Ashtanga, how to do the Asana properly and the breathing technique, Pranayama. I only take a peek since my focus distracted easily but it is fascinating to know the history of yoga. It had found at 200 BC as one of the six orthodox systems of Indian philosophy. The meaning of yoga is to "unite", the deeper meaning is to "unite our will with God will". I am done first page in first chapter and i need to do my work so i will continue to read it tomorrow.

In the evening i made an appointment with my high school friend to do yoga. We met in the gym and this is my second power yoga class. The teacher, Grace mostly giving us about hip opener and back bend. Today topic is back bend with no peak pose, just all the sequence a bit challenging for new comer. I am happy to see my friend progression since today is his third time in yoga class, the transition in vinyasa flow went smoother and no falling knees anymore during down dog, just a bit stop in challenging holding pose. I also have another appointment with my yoga mates to try freeletics near park and i have a dinner first, a small crepe to fill my energy before this.

My first time of freeletics is great, this work out has similar feeling with body combat, just the sequence is repeating and involve to be in ground more than body combat, after all this is body weight training. I also see the sequence that is similar with yoga such as fore arm plank and down dog. I met a lot of new friends here, just by remember the 90/10 approach, smiling and 7 of 10 persons smile you back, even a girl. Smile is a powerful action to change your day and after we finished with freeletics, we decided to take a night snack and have a nice conversation there. I love to spend time with them even the age differences considered far, our communication just flow smoothly and the great part is all of us are positive person and supporting each other.  Yoga are really unite us with no age boundaries. I hope i could keep the good vibe today and have a great day tomorrow with the way of i react and smile, i wish.
