Day Nine: Between Oceans

Welcome,

Today is the last day of office day though tomorrow i need to attend a meeting with boss and some coworkers. Basically i don't have to do anymore for today so in the office i just continue searching information related with live and work in Canada. I discuss this idea with some of my friend and some of them suggest Sydney, Australia in comparison about the ideal living cost. Both countries are in top option for someone who seeking a lifelong settlement and international culture.

I heard some countries are on the top list of the most life-able or peaceful country which is Eastern Europe countries (Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, UK) or closer to Asia continent (Australia and NZ) and Canada. By given many option to compare, i eliminate some countries which i will put them on the third option or last since I am not interested or the limitation for foreigner to start is big. Among all, i would like to compare Canada with Australia since both are the based on commonwealth and English speaking country.

I do a short research between them, with the living cost as the main variable, others are public safety and the level of pollution. To make it balance, i compare two capital with the similarities of trait, as the most contributor in its economic. For Canada, i picked Toronto while for Australia, i picked Sydney.

Later i found out that Australia has more expensive than Canada in term of living. Some product considered cheaper in Australia depend on the local agriculture and the trade agreement between those countries. In my opinion, both share the same value of customer purchasing power, the product you can buy with your income level. Both also share the same progressive tax, the more you earn, more number you will need to pay. In the lowest wage scale, there is visible differences as Australian earn 40% more in term of lowest salary per hour.

In a nutshell, almost everything in Canada is cheaper 30% than in Australia. Then comes to the high demand job between those two and surprisingly, retail job stay sit in the back since that the lowest salary from the job you can take. Australia more needed in hospitality sector (food and service) while Canada is in health sector (care giver and nurse earn big).

Then we comes to immigration process. Both of them has the same method to bring skilled worker to their country, judging their credibility from the point they could collect with given factors from what i had written yesterday (English ability, education, work experience, age, sponsorship and special qualification).

The research not too deep since i just want to know the number of differences and the cost of it. By the way both considered the best healthcare in the world so no need to search other factor related to job safety and country condition.

Now let's talking about my new found of Canadian student visa, which can grant you to permanent residence visa from PNP Program, Provincial Nominee Program. A program supported by Canadian provincial government. This program is an express way to have a permanent residency without getting your work permit and convert it to working visa, after that you need to wait for a year to apply your PR. According from this site, you are eligible in this program once you had a bachelor degree in foreign country and attend the university in Canada for a year. Different province offers different program for example in Alberta you need to attend at least one year of Canadian college without exception while in Ottawa much stricter that you need to have at least two year foreign experience and one year studying in Canada or two year in Canadian college. The next step is you need an employer to give you sponsorship working in his Company, that are certified as legal in Canada. The employer must met a certain requirement. For the company who established in Greater Toronto Area, they must at least generate 1,000,000 CAD of revenue within a year with 5 full-timers in the company and for those who established out of GTA but still in Ottawa, they must at least generate 500,000 CAD of revenue within a year with 3 full-timers in the company.

This is important information for my employer since her company doesn't look that big, well i am not underestimate with the business but that just a basic requirement to apply a PNP Program with company sponsorship. I will mention this information to her by tomorrow night and hope for the best outcome for both of us.

I will be talk back with my employer tomorrow night and hope the best for my result tomorrow since my life is depend on it. Have yourself a good Friday night and see you tomorrow.
